New features in Canvas

On July 20th, these important features of Canvas has changed: 

  • The discussion board has been redesigned for flexible viewing (inline or split view), quoting, @mentions, improved accessibility, and the ability to create anonymous discussions. This comparison table has an overview. 
  • You will be able to assign individual students to modules, pages, and discussions. Instructors must select the Assign to button to set date restrictions. The settings pages for Add Module and Edit Module have been redesigned as trays. 
  • In assignments instructors must click the Assign to button to set date restrictions. The user interface has been redesigned as a tray. Rubrics have been redesigned to allow instructors to search and sort rubrics, view the location rubrics are used, duplicate and archive rubrics, as well as more easily edit existing rubrics. The create and edit rubrics interface has also been redesigned.
